Picture This: Gilla Band

(feat. The Psychotic Monks; Norwich Arts Centre, 27/02/2024)

In sharp contrast to my BCNR photos last year, which were accompanied by a long and mostly incoherent rant, these images from a recent Gilla Band gig form part of a new series. I have christened it ‘Picture This’ after the Blondie song – a nice self-explanatory name that also conveys my indie street cred. Gilla Band are super good live, though I really feel that I should love them more considering how much I enjoy noise rock. Fittingly, support group The Psychotic Monks have a fair helping of The Jesus Lizard and Big Black in their DNA, though with a more danceable, electronic edge.
